L’edizione 2013, organizzata come sempre dal Circolo del Cinema “Immagini” di Sant’Antioco, ha in cartellone numerosi film di altissima qualità e numerosi incontri con i registi provenienti da diversi Paesi del Mediterraneo. Cinque giorni che renderanno la cittadina sulcitana un importante centro di scambio culturale. Il confronto con tutte le sponde del Mare nostrum è ormai necessario e il cinema può rappresentare un’ottima chiave di accesso a culture spesso ignorate o evitate per incapacità di andare oltre i soliti stereotipi o la classica dicotomia tra oriente-occidente. Film di registi emergenti incontreranno lavori di registi già affermati che si cimentano nel cortometraggio. Alcuni saranno in sala a presentare i loro lavori e discuterne con il pubblico.

Oltre le sbarre

Il carcere luogo di detenzione dove la vita scorre sempre uguale. Luogo dove scontare la pena e da cui ripartire per costruire una nuova vita.

I tre documentari presentati in questa serata seguono un percorso attraverso il quale vediamo scorrere la vita del carcerato come un susseguirsi di frammenti temporali ripetitivi. Gesti quotidiani comuni sia a chi sta dietro le sbarre che a chi sta dall’altra parte. Un televisore acceso diventa quasi un punto di contatto tra la vita interna e quella esterna al luogo di detenzione. Ognuno, in fin dei conti, guarda le stesse immagini. Questo sembra dirci il documentario sperimentale “A la limite…traces” realizzato all’interno di un carcere parigino nell’ambito di un’esperienza laboratoriale organizzata dall’associazione Les Yeux de l’Ouie.

Gianluca Nieddu con il suo “Anche se non sono gigli” mostra il volto di alcuni detenuti che si interrogano sul proprio futuro, tra speranza e timore. Interrogarsi sul proprio futuro mentre si sta scontando la pena dentro un carcere, da una parte il desiderio di poter vivere una vita normale, dall’altra la paura di non sapersi relazionare con la vita civile esterna.

Ma il riscatto è possibile. Questo il messaggio di fondo del documentario “Il riscatto” di Giovanna Taviani. Seguendo il percorso di Salvatore Striano, da detenuto nel carcere di Rebibbia a protagonista del film dei fratelli Taviani “Cesare deve morire”, la regista ci dimostra che la redenzione è possibile e l’arte è un mezzo straordinario perché ciò succeda.

Grecia: una valigia di cortometraggi

Come tradizione, anche quest’anno ci sarà un’intera giornata dedicata alla produzione cinematografica di un Paese ospite. La sezione Focus, dopo aver ospitato nelle passate edizioni Francia, Spagna, Tunisia, Libano, Turchia, Israele e Palestina, quest’anno si concentrerà sulla Grecia.

Nonostante la Grecia versi in una profonda crisi economica e politica, la società ellenica è comunque in movimento. Ciò si rispecchia nella produzione di cortometraggi, confermando un processo imprevedibile all’interno della società greca: un boom di quantità e qualità. Anche se i finanziamenti statali alle produzioni si sono praticamente ridotti a zero, il numero di film prodotti è aumentato significativamente: i registi greci continuano a fare cortometraggi indipendenti. Da un lato, la “crisi” ha spinto i registi a collaborare tra loro, mentre d’altra parte, la tecnologia digitale ha facilitato la produzione cinematografica e nonostante le produzioni siano a basso costo gli standard di qualità del prodotto finale sono impressionanti e altamente professionali. Ciò è confermato dal fatto che i cortometraggi greci sono molto apprezzati nella comunità cinematografica internazionale.

La serata organizzata in collaborazione con l’International Short Film Festival in Drama, la più importante manifestazione greca dedicata al cortometraggio, vedrà la presenza dei registi: Vassilis Kalamakis, Spiros Charalambous, Jacqueline Lentzou, oltre a Sofia Georgiadou, in rappresentanza del Festival in Drama. L’incontro tra le due manifestazioni è stato possibile grazie alla Fondazione Ellenica di Cultura di Trieste.

Intrecci mediterranei

Intrecci mediterranei, il cuore della rassegna, è un contenitore di storie, uno spazio d’incontro tra culture, una pluralità di suoni e immagini che raccontano il Mediterraneo contemporaneo. Ancora una volta, cortometraggi provenienti dalla Spagna, Francia, Tunisia, Egitto, Palestina, Israele, Libano, Kosovo, Croazia, Marocco, Algeria, Turchia, Italia sbarcano sull’isola sulcitana insieme ai loro registi. Si apre così una finestra sui Paesi bagnati dal Mar Mediterraneo, in un abbraccio fraterno tra culture e tradizioni differenti. Il cinema, quindi, potente mezzo di condivisione di idee e punti di vista: arte capace di superare le barriere invisibili che impediscono di apprezzare e conoscere ciò che è così vicino e così lontano. La rassegna, nata e cresciuta in Sardegna, ha permesso negli anni di avviare relazioni tra persone provenienti dai diversi Paesi del Mediterraneo.

Ventitre i cortometraggi proiettati, tredici i Paesi rappresentati, molti i film che hanno vinto nei festival internazionali. Un vero melting pot cinematografico.

CortoAmbiente

La sezione CortoAmbiente, rivolta ai ragazzi delle scuole superiori, presenterà una selezione di cortometraggi a tema ambientale curata in collaborazione con il Clorofilla Film Festival, organizzato da Legambiente. La proiezione sarà l’occasione per affrontare temi riguardanti l’inquinamento dei territori, l’antropizzazione, le risorse energetiche e altro ancora.

La rassegna cinematografica è stata preceduta da due laboratori di formazione nel campo delle attività cinematografiche. Il primo, “La traduzione audiovisiva: i sottotitoli per il cinema e la televisione”, ha permesso ad un gruppo di studenti universitari e liceali di cimentarsi nella traduzione del dialogo cinematografico e consentirà al pubblico di poter godere di film in lingua originale con i dialoghi sottotitolati in italiano. Il secondo, “Critica il corto”, dedicato alla critica cinematografica, dopo il workshop tenuto in collaborazione con il Celcam dell’Università di Cagliari dal critico cinematografico Alessandro Stellino, permetterà ai partecipanti di cimentarsi nella recensione cinematografica dei cortometraggi proiettati nella rassegna Passaggi d’Autore: intrecci mediterranei.

The three documentaries presented this evening following a path through which we see the flow of life in prison as a succession of repetitive temporal fragments . Everyday gestures common to both those behind bars and those here on the other side . A television on almost becomes a point of contact between the inner and outer life to the place of detention. Everyone , after all , look at the same pictures. This seems to tell us the experimental documentary “To limit the … traces” made ​​in a Parisian prison as part of an experience workshop organized by Les Yeux de l’ Ouie .

Gianluca Nieddu with his ” Even if they are not lilies ” shows the face of some detainees who wonder about their future, between hope and fear . Question their future while you are serving a sentence in a prison , on the one hand the desire to live a normal life , the other the fear of not knowing how to relate with civilian life outside.

But redemption is possible. This is the underlying message of the documentary ” The Ransom ” by Giovanna Taviani . Following the path of Salvatore Striano , from prisoners in Rebibbia to star in the film by the Taviani brothers ‘ Caesar Must Die , “the director shows us that redemption is possible, and the art is a terrific way for this to happen.

Greece: a suitcase full of shorts

As a tradition, this year there will be an entire day dedicated to film production in a host country. The Focus section , having hosted in past editions France , Spain, Tunisia , Lebanon, Turkey , Israel and Palestine , this year will focus on Greece .

Although Greece verses in a deep economic and political crisis , the Hellenic Society is still in motion. This is reflected in the production of short films , confirming an unpredictable process within the Greek society : a boom in quantity and quality. Although state funding productions were practically reduced to zero , the number of films produced has increased significantly : the Greek directors continue to make independent short films . On the one hand , the “crisis” has led the filmmakers to collaborate with each other , while on the other hand , digital technology has facilitated the film and despite the productions are low-cost standards of quality of the final product are impressive and highly professional . This is confirmed by the fact that the Greeks short films are very popular in the international film community .

The evening was organized in collaboration with the International Short Film Festival in Drama , the most important event dedicated to the Greek short film , will see the presence of the directors : Vassilis Kalamakis , Spiros Charalambous Jacqueline Lentzou , as well as Sofia Georgiadou , representing the Festival in Drama . The meeting between the two events has been possible thanks to the Hellenic Foundation for Culture in Trieste.

Interdependence Mediterranean

Interdependence Mediterranean , the heart of the exhibition, is a container for stories , a space of encounter between cultures , a plurality of sounds and images that tell the contemporary Mediterranean . Again, short films from Spain , France, Tunisia, Egypt, Palestine , Israel, Lebanon , Kosovo, Croatia , Morocco, Algeria, Turkey, Italy sulcitana landed on the island along with their directors . This opens a window on the countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, in a fraternal embrace between different cultures and traditions . The movie , then , a powerful means of sharing ideas and points of view: art able to overcome the invisible barriers that prevent you appreciate and know what it is so close and so far away. The festival was born and raised in Sardinia , has allowed over the years to establish relations between people from different countries of the Mediterranean.

Twenty-three short films screened , thirteen countries represented , many of the films that have won at international festivals. A true melting pot of cinema.

CortoAmbiente

The section CortoAmbiente , aimed at high school students , will present a selection of short films about environmental care in collaboration with the Chlorophyll Film Festival, organized by Legambiente . The projection will be an opportunity to address issues related to the pollution of land, the human presence , energy resources , and more.

The film festival was preceded by two training workshops in the field of film-making activities . The first, ” Audiovisual Translation : Subtitles for film and television ,” he allowed a group of college students and high school students to engage in the translation of film dialogue and allow the public to be able to enjoy movies in their original language with the dialogue subtitled in Italian . The second, ” Critique short “, dedicated to film criticism , after the workshop held in collaboration with the University of Cagliari Celcam by film critic Alexander Stellino , will allow participants to engage in the review of the short films screened in the film festival passes d ‘ Author: Mediterranean twists .
