“Wish You Were Unofficial”

Cagliari’s landmarks as seen by young local illustrators: a collection of special postcards for unconventional greetings.

Wish you were Unofficial è un progetto in ambito creativo e culturale, autofinanziato e senza scopo di lucro.

Gli artisti che hanno partecipato sono: Marjani Aresti, La Fille Bertha, Marco Cabiddu, Ugo Cabua, Giorgia Cadeddu, Marco Cadinu, Andrea Casciu, Conan, Alice Congiu, Massimo Congiu, Crisa, Riccardo De Angelis, Francesco Deiana, Fran, IdeaMe (Elisa Deiana e Michela Schivo), Francesco “Fr3nk” Liori, Laura Lusso, Bruno “Tunno” Melis, Stefano Melis, Federica Nioi, Evelise Obinu, Federico “Neeva” Orrù, Marco Porcedda, Carol “Eisenauer”Rollo, Bereniche La Ruche, Bachisio “Bachis” Scanu, Luca Scarlatta, Irene Sechi, Alberto Serreli, Skan, Giulia Sollai, Alberto “Carbonauta” Spada, Maria Tedde, Tellas, Ufoe.

wishFriday the 20th of December – from 7 pm, at “Studio Umido”, via Corte d’Appello 71 Cagliari, in the neighbourhood of Castello – there will take place the opening of the collective exhibition “Wish you were Unofficial”. Promoted by the newborn cultural association “Unofficial Cagliari”, this show represents just a part of a greater editorial project that consists in producing and issuing a series of limited edition postcards. Illustrated by several local young artists, these postcards portray some among most important public places in Cagliari, such as monuments, museums and parks.

These landmarks (more than 20) were subject of a contest, open to everyone, which awarded the most peculiar and “unconventional” artworks printing them on postcards. Originally, we planned to release only 10 postcards. Nevertheless, thanks to a broad participation – 36 people: artists, emergent illustrators, graphic designers and just drawing amateurs – and illustrations high quality, we decided to select 20 different works. On Friday, there will be postcards first preview. They’ll be given within four special and handmade packages, each one including 5 of them. During the event, just with a little offer, visitors will also be able to get the Unofficial Cagliari association member card.

At any rate, the exhibition is to host all the artworks that have taken part in this contest. The show will be open every day – until Monday, the 6th of January 2014 – from 11 am to 8 pm. Anyone who’s interested (perhaps in order to get an unique Christmas present for their dears), can also buy a print copy of the illustrations, signed by the authors. The proceeds will be given to the artists.

Wish You Were Unofficial it’s a non-profit and do it yourself cultural and creative project. It aims to point out young local artists’ talent and spread their works through the international scene. Besides, it wants to fascinate travellers with an endless charm souvenir, re-interpreted in a contemporary, fresh-looking and, last but not least, unofficial way.
