WIND INSTRUMENTS ENSEMBLE IN CONCERT – CUGLIERI – THURSDAY JULY 26

Thursday, July 26 to 21, in the cloister of the former Convent of the Capuchins in Cuglieri continues the musical activity, as part of “An Island of Music in 2012″ the Lyric Theatre of Cagliari, with an exquisite chamber concert. Ensemble protagonists are the wind of the Lyric Theatre of Cagliari, especially chamber music orchestra of the Opera House.

The music program includes: Serenade in D minor, Op. 44 of Antonín Dvořák, Petite Symphonie by Charles Gounod.

Antonín Dvořák (Nelahozeves, 1841 – Prague, 1904), the Serenade in D minor, composed in 1878, when he was born to her first daughter, Otilie, followed two years later by the second daughter, Anna. The biennium 1878-1880, very happy in the life of the composer, also marks the growth of the personality of Dvořák from artistic point of view. Composed for ten wind instruments, cello and double bass, the serenade is divided into four movements (Moderato almost running; Minuet: Time Minuet – Trio: Allegro, Andante con moto, Finale. Allegro molto), of which, is the impressive ‘ last page overwhelming, full of vibrant themes of inspiration and popular gentle oasis of sound.

Charles Gounod (Paris, 1818 – Saint Cloud, 1893) writes Petite Symphonie in 1885 for flute, two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, two horns and divided into four movements (Adagio-Allegro, Andante cantabile, Scherzo-Allegro moderato; Finale-Allegretto). The first performance in April of that year at the Salle Pleyel in Paris. There are few chamber works by Gounod, and this page is perhaps the most performed, leading to a stable part of the repertoire of different combinations of wind instruments for its freshness and enjoyment of language.

 

The other three dates are: Saturday, July 28 to 21 at the Parco della Musica in Cagliari, Monday, July 30 at 21.30 in the Piazzetta Zirottu Posada, Tuesday, July 31 to 21 in the Church of Santa Maria della snow Arzachena.

The show relies on the collaboration of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, the Fondazione Banco di Sardegna, the Capitta & Partners and the Town Councils of Cuglieri, Cagliari, Posada, Arzachena.
