Torna anche quest’anno il doppio appuntamento con il weekend delle Rose a Villanova Monteleone,in programma il 24 e 25 maggio e il 31 maggio,1 e 2 giugno 2014

L’Ente Foreste della Sardegna, Servizio Territoriale di Sassari, ha realizzato, presso il Vivaio di Monte Minerva, un Roseto Antico. L’iniziativa, partita qualche anno fa, rientra fra i progetti di valorizzazione del territorio e del Cantiere Forestale di “Monte Minerva” dove si prevede la riconversione del vivaio forestale in Giardino Botanico e la sua futura apertura al pubblico.
Il Roseto di Monte Minerva è un Roseto Antico tra le roverelle (Quercus pubescens) e le sughere (Quercus suber). La collezione riveste un ruolo importante, non ancora riconosciuto dal grosso pubblico, infatti le rose antiche oltre che per la loro bellezza e l’intensità dei profumi, vanno studiate e preservate per l’importanza storica legata all’evoluzione delle diverse specie e dei loro ibridi. Verso la fine del 1800, contestualmente alla creazione di nuove specie e varietà, vi fu un declino delle rose antiche; ciò avvenne quando i nuovi ibridi di rose, derivanti dall’incrocio delle varietà allora conosciute con alcune rose cinesi, non profumate ma rifiorenti, ebbero una diffusione senza eguali soppiantando tutte le altre rose coltivate fino ad allora nei giardini di tutta Europa

The Forestry Agency of Sardinia, Territorial Service of Sassari , achieved at the Nursery of Monte Minerva , an Old Rose Garden . The initiative , which started a few years ago , is one of the projects of development of the area and the Shipyard Forest ” Mount Minerva ” where it involves the conversion of forest nursery in the Botanical Garden and its future opening to the public .
The Mount Minerva Rose Garden Rose Garden is an ancient among the oaks (Quercus pubescens) and cork oak (Quercus suber ) . The collection plays an important role , not yet recognized by the general public , in fact antique roses as well as for their beauty and intensity of scents , must be studied and preserved for its historical importance related to the evolution of the different species and their hybrids. Towards the end of 1800 , simultaneously with the creation of new species and varieties, there was a decline of old roses ; what happened when the new hybrids of roses, resulting from the crossing of varieties then known by some Chinese roses , fragrant but not re-bloom , had a spread unmatched supplanting all other roses grown in gardens until then across Europe
