The Carnival Tempio started in full respect of tradition, who want to start on January 5th. THE CARNIVAL
The Carnival of the modern era, does not include anthropomorphic figures, one color, imagination, joy and pleasure of allegories, often poignant, ironic and easily recognizable. For thirty years the festival has gone beyond the boundaries of the town, involving thousands of people, able to get in Gallura from everywhere, not just the island. Also tourists of different nationalities every year despite the bitter cold of winter Tempio, become involved with the overwhelming madness of the carnival. HISTORY
The story repeats itself for centuries, although, over the years, has adapted to the times. King George (formerly Ghiogljiu Puntogljiu) was a poor and minutes scarecrow, dressed in rags, behind a procession of white sheets (there linzoli Cupalatati), and musicians (Sunadori them) and Domini (Figures masked, and the body hidden in a dark tunic), able to accompany him on a short parade. Today, the King has gigantic, often with movement, smirks, wearing royal robes and combines with Mannena, generous commoner. In the past, we observed a purifying fire, the burning merciless today attracts thousands of people and takes place in the great square of Largo XXV Aprile, in the heart of Gallura, so that everyone, even from a distance, could attend the sentencing.

In the past the people waiting for the carnival to experience the time of abundance and pleasures of the flesh. IN THE PAST …
From the writings of poets and authors of the past come the most distant memories related to the carnival. A party that has always represented an important moment for the community. EDITION 2012
The 2012 edition of the Carnival of Tempio, for the first time is organized by un’ATS (temporary association), composed of the town of Tempio, Carrasciali Association, the Friends of Papier-mâché, and by the Carrascialai Timpiesi Trade Association 2000. The ATS is the basis for the creation of a Foundation, with the town of Tempio leader, destined, as early as next year, the annual management event. The 2012 edition has a mascot, a nice Gallo, whose name Frisgiola, was chosen by the people through the pages of Facebook, the social network’s favorite. Among the novelties of this edition of the info points, real points of information, able to help tourists and visitors, and Makeup Point, in order to bring the magic and fun of the carnival. From January until the end of six days the city will be the ideal stage for musical and theatrical performances and host street performers. The calendar also saw cultural events intended to enrich our understanding of other carnivals Italians.
Gastronomic moments for the promotion of typical products of the Carnival fritters in Gallura from the Moscato di Temple are other important moments of exchange between past and present.
CHILDREN
There will be moments of entertainment for even the smallest, from the traditional children’s parade on Monday afternoon (a miniature train for children), the revival of an ancient tradition gallurese “A Friaghju Fora” (Out February).
