SYMPHONIES OF GIOACHINO ROSSINI – MUSIC PARK – SATURDAY AUGUST 4

World-famous symphonies and big choral scenes by Gioachino Rossini

Saturday, August 4 at 21:30 at the Parco della Musica in Cagliari

Saturday, August 4 at 21:30 at the Parco della Musica in Cagliari, takes place on the fifth of six musical events every Saturday until August 11, as part of “An Island of Music in 2012″ the Lyric Theatre of Cagliari: this week a rich evening dedicated to the well known symphonies and big choral scenes of Gioachino Rossini. The protagonists are the Opera House Orchestra and Chorus, conducted by Christian Del Monte and, as soloists: the soprano Beatrice Murtas (Anaide), mezzo-soprano Elisa Pais (Mary), the tenor Oscar Piras (Elisha), down Alexander Frabotta (Moses). The choir director is Marco Faelli.

The musical program, dedicated, therefore, the compositional genius of Gioachino Rossini, music provides by: William Tell: Symphony, is the clear sky; the tremble of the stream; Step six, Glory and honor to the young – Tancredi: Symphony; Love get – The Siege of Corinth: Symphony – Moses: Ah! The ferocious power of the wicked; From your starry throne.

Entrance to the exhibition, which lasts about an hour, is free.

The symphony is one of the instrumental forms with which an opera could begin before the opening of the curtain. Its structure is more defined than the overture and the prelude to the French, nearly always tripartite: Allegro-Adagio-Allegro. Often the symphony anticipates the musical themes that will then carry out extensive work inside. But it is with Gioachino Rossini (Pesaro, 1792 – Paris, 1868) states that the symphony as a standalone piece, intended to gain a reputation that sometimes, as in the case of William Tell, comes to exceed that of the same work. Divided into four movements, the symphony of William Tell summarizes the whole story based on the legendary figure of the Helvetian who leads his people to freedom: the dialogue between solo instruments chamber; the outbreak of the storm, the andante pastoral fanfare open and developed by the trumpets by full orchestra in a rousing final. Among the numerous choral composed by Rossini, the famous prayer stands out dramatically from your starry throne, the most famous song of Moses. The work debuted with great success, in 1818, although, now, the public appreciates more the first two acts rather than the last. In this regard Rossini completely rewrites the document and adds, in the end, this articulated choral song decreeing, thus, the final fortune of the entire work.

The show relies on the collaboration of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, the Fondazione Banco di Sardegna, the Capitta & Partners and the Town Councils of Cagliari and Iglesias.
