Il solstizio d’estate è il momento dell’anno nel quale il Sole raggiunge il punto più settentrionale della sua corsa apparente nel cielo, segnando l’inizio della stagione estiva e costituendo il giorno in cui si hanno il massimo di ore di luce. Il termine «solstizio» significa «Sole stazionario» e indica che in questo momento astronomico il sole non si alza né si abbassa rispetto all’equatore celeste. Questo giorno, detto solstizio estivo, è ancora oggi ricordato e atteso, in quanto primo giorno d’estate, anche se in realtà, dopo il giorno più lungo che è rappresentato dal 21 giugno, il sole comincia a calare, determinando l’accorciarsi graduale delle giornate. I solstizi nell’antichità venivano festeggiati un po’ ovunque dai popoli pagani, dalla Grecia, all’America precolombiana, nell’antica Roma i due solstizi erano consacrati a Giano bifronte, il dio guardiano delle soglie e dei passaggi.

Sin dai tempi più remoti il cambio di direzione che il sole compie, tra il 21 e il 22 giugno, è visto come un momento particolare e magico. La trasversalità di queste tradizioni, comuni a popoli così diversi, è facilmente spiegabile. I riti e le pratiche erano basate sulla semplice osservazione dei corpi celesti; questi fenomeni erano visibili in tutte le zone del mondo, da tutte le culture, anche la religione cattolica divenne ben presto conscia dell’importanza di questo periodo e dei festeggiamenti a esso associati, e ai riti pagani inserì le proprie celebrazioni. Da qui il solstizio d’estate è diventato la festa di San Giovanni il Battista, che sarebbe nato esattamente sei mesi prima di Cristo.

Il 25 dicembre, giorno in cui il sole ricomincia la sua corsa dopo il solstizio d’inverno, coincide invece con il Natale. Così oggi, nella festa di San Giovanni, si svolgono delle celebrazioni con questa strana mescolanza di elementi sacri e profani. Nella notte tra il 23 e il 24 giugno si usa bruciare le vecchie erbe nei falò e andare alla raccolta delle nuove. Antica e cristianizzata, la notte di mezza estate ha conservato tutte le sue valenze magiche.

Il Reading a Casa Lecis Antoine Jean Baptiste Marie Roger de Saint-Exupéry, meglio conosciuto semplicemente come Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (Lione, 29 giugno 1900 – mar Tirreno, 31 luglio 1944). Pubblicato il 6 aprile 1943 da Reynal & Hitchcock in inglese, e qualche giorno dopo in francese, è un racconto molto poetico che, nella forma di un’opera letteraria per ragazzi, affronta temi come il senso della vita e il significato dell’amore e dell’amicizia. Ciascun capitolo del libro racconta di un diverso incontro che il protagonista fa con diversi personaggi e su diversi pianeti e ognuno di questi bizzarri personaggi lascia il piccolo principe stupito e sconcertato dalla stranezza delle “persone adulte”.

Il Concerto al castello Due violoncelli daranno vita dalle ore 05.00 ad un evento unico, dal sapore classico e dalle sonorità molto intime e delicate della prima parte, quando il sole ancora non è sorto, ed il cielo vira dall’indaco al ceruleo, fino alla seconda parte, quando il sole colora di granata, cremisi, oro e arancio la volta a Est e la musica si tinge di sonorità jazz. Concluso il concerto intorno alle ore 06:30, consumeremo e concluderemo l’evento con una calda colazione. Vista l’unicità della sede dell’evento, la complessità di accesso al sito, e per limitare la presenza di autoveicoli, verrà allestito un sistema gratuito di trasporto dalla piazza Sa Porta di Silius alle pendici del castello e rientro.Summer Solstice 2014 Silius
