Promote a culture of sustainability is the watchword of the Posidonia Festival, a festival of art and nature that takes its name from the Posidonia oceanica, a marine plant that is essential element for the ecosystems of the Mediterranean and coastal protection from ‘erosion.
Now in its fifth year of programming, the festival organized by the nonprofit Green Project Posidonia Posidonia MED Carlisle with the Association of Barcelona, will return for the second consecutive year at Carlisle, July 20 to 22, with the cooperation of local operators as the Cultural Association du Shcoggiu Botti, the contribution of the Historical and Environmental Park of Sardinia Geominerario and sponsored by the City of Carlisle.
The event includes appetizers and music concerts, screenings of documentaries on environmental issues in cooperation with the Chlorophyll Film Festival, art installations, workshops for children where they will be recycled materials recovered during a clean-up “creative” Beach Channel Canalunga, circuses and ecological un’EcoFiera.
At the heart of the Festival there will be conferences on enhancing the local environmental restoration – with assistance from the Coastal Conservatory of Sardinia, Sardinia Geominerario Park and University of Sassari – and participatory citizenship, and communication of sustainability, as well as a series of devoted to the world of fishing, in collaboration with OCEAN2012, an international coalition of 150 organizations working for the reform of EU fisheries policy and the protection of our seas: a roundtable discussion with representatives of Ocean2012 Italy, the Fisheries Service Sardinia Region, Slow Food Centre Estudis de Mar and Barcelona Provincial Council, the photo exhibition “Back to the Future” curated by Corey Arnold and David McCandless.

During the festival week, July 16 to 22, across the island of San Pietro, you can perform a number of selected activities to discover the nature of this corner of Sardinia: guided tours to discover crafts and local history, hiking, sailing and kayaking, diving among the Posidonia beds, paths Lipu Oasis of Cape sandals and theater locations of du Shcoggiu Botti, an original blend of inland exploration, astronomy, art and storytelling.
