Three days of great music with performers of the international art scene.

Each day will offer two concerts, concert starts at 21:30 Europe Square – Narcao.

James Cotton – Superharp
The legend
James Cotton was born July 1, 1935 in Tunica, Mississippi.
Among the 5/6 years as a christmas gift receives a harmonica
the cost of 15 cents, and it was not long before
he became master of the instrument. At the tender
age of nine he was kidnapped by the spell of the music
Sonny Boy Williamson after listening to the transmission
King Biscuit Time, transmitted by a broadcaster of
Helena, Arkansas. His uncle took him one day to know
Williamson, who was so impressed by the young from that
time took him under his wing.
In the six years Cotton lived, worked and traveled
with Williamson, absorbing many of his qualities.
The young harmonica is a lot of other opportunities
in Memphis blues circuit. Cotton played and recorded with
Howlin’Wolf and Willie Nix, started in 1954 with Muddy Waters
a partnership lasting 12 years.
In 1966 he decided to form a band’s, “The James Cotton
Blues Band “. And from that moment everything is a Cotton
growing fame and collaborations coming musicians
every part of the globe to play with him, authentic
legends of blues and beyond, such as the Grateful
Dead, the Paul Butterfield, Janis Joplin etc. ….
But the really amazing thing is that even today
Cotton and his harmonica are still making their mark
in the music world with the continuous collaboration
with various musicians and hosted the talk shows.
