Durante il periodo dell’avvento, a Basilea si respira un’atmosfera magica. I due incantevoli mercatini di Natale vengono allestiti nel cuore della città, nel centro storico decorato a festa per il Natale: uno sulla Barfüsserplatz, nei pressi della Chiesa Barfüsserkirche, e l’altro sulla Münsterplatz proprio accanto alla cattedrale, vero simbolo della città. È qui che viene collocato lo splendido albero di Natale decorato da Johann Wanner, lo specialista del Natale. Su entrambe le piazze i tanti artigiani e venditori esporranno i loro prodotti e chi è in cerca di idee regalo potrà lasciarsi ispirare dall’ampia offerta e dall’atmosfera incantata. Non mancheranno inoltre le delizie per il palato come il vino caldo speziato, i waffel, i tipici Läckerli di Basilea (biscottini natalizi) e gli amatissimi wurstel grigliati.

Inaugurazione ufficiale del Natale a Basilea

In occasione dell’inaugurazione ufficiale del Natale a Basilea, il 27 novembre 2014 alle ore 18.30 sulla Münsterplatz il presidente del cantone Guy Morin accenderà le luci natalizie. In contemporanea sarà possibile ammirare in tutto il loro splendore i tanti alberi di Natale allestiti per le strade della città. L’ensemble di ottoni del Musik Akademie Basel e il coro Extra del Teatro di Basilea, diretti da Henryk Pollus, accompagneranno l’evento con la loro musica. Inoltre, i membri dell’Associazione delle case di cura e di riposo di Basilea offriranno ai presenti tè, vin brulé e brodo caldo.

Un secondo mercatino con 40 bancarelle si trova all’interno della stazione ferroviaria, Weihnachtsmarkt Rail City Basel. Vasellame in stagno, figurine in legno, ceramiche, articoli per bambini, decorazioni natalizie e candele sono gli articoi che si possono trovare.

Il panorama sul Reno e sulla Cattedrale rende molto suggestivo un piccolo mercatino di 20 bancarelle allestito sulla terrazza sul fiume dello storico Cafè Spritz dell’Hotel Merian. Si propongono oggetti d’arredamento, giocattoli in legno, candele, ricami e spezie.

Infine è possibile degustare vin brulè, Basler Lackerli, salsicce alla griglia e specialità a base di formaggio.

Alla Christmas House di Johann Wanner (Spalenberg 14) è Natale durante tutto l’anno. Nei 500 metri quadrati si vendono esclusivamente decorazioni natalizie fatte a mano. Tra i clienti affezionati ci sono i Windsor e la Casa Bianca.

Arrivare a Basilea è facilissimo: il centro storico dista soli 15 minuti dall’EuroAirport, mentre dal vicino aeroporto di Zurigo è possibile raggiungere la stazione di Basilea SBB con un collegamento ferroviario diretto di un’ora. Basilea è un importante nodo stradale in Europa e non offre solo eccellenti collegamenti aerei, ma dispone anche di tre stazioni ferroviarie ed è attraversata da importanti arterie autostradali.

Dall’EuroAirport prendere l’autobus n. 50 in direzione della stazione “Bahnhof SBB” fino al capolinea “Bahnhof SBB”. Da qui prendere il tram n. 8 in direzione “Kleinhüningen“, il tram n. 10 in direzione “Rodersdorf” o il n. 11 in direzione “St-Louis Grenze” fino alla fermata “Barfüsserplatz”. Il mercatino di Natale sulla Münsterplatz dista solo pochi minuti a piedi dalla Barfüsserplatz.
Mobility Ticket

Con almeno un pernottamento a Basilea, ogni ospite riceve al momento della registrazione in albergo un Mobility Ticket che consente di utilizzare gratuitamente la rete di trasporti pubblici della città di Basilea e dei dintorni (zona 10, 11, 13 e 15 incluso EuroAirport) durante l’intero soggiorno (fino a un massimo di 30 giorni).

Per chi arriva in auto

La città di Basilea è situata tra gli assi autostradali europei nord-sud ed est-ovest ed è dunque facilissima da raggiungere in auto. Per circolare sulle autostrade svizzere è necessario avere una cosiddetta “vignetta”, acquistabile a CHF 40 presso gli uffici doganali, gli uffici postali, le stazioni di servizio, autofficine, uffici della circolazione stradale e i Punti Informazione di Basilea Turismo.

In occasione dei mercatini di Natale si consiglia di usufruire del parcheggio del proprio hotel o di uno dei parcheggi multipiano della città.

Official Opening of Christmas in Basel

At the Johann Wanner Christmas House (Spalenberg 14) is Christmas all year round. In the 500 square meters are sold exclusively handmade Christmas decorations. Among the loyal customers are the Windsors and the White House.

Getting to Basel is easy: the old town is just 15 minutes from EuroAirport, while the nearby Zurich airport you can reach the station Basel SBB with a direct rail link to one hour. Basel is an important road junction in Europe and not only offers excellent flight connections, but also has three railway stations and is crossed by major highways.

EuroAirport take bus no. 50 in the direction of the station “Bahnhof SBB” to the last stop “Bahnhof SBB”. For those arriving by car

The city of Basel is located between the European roads north-south and east-west and is therefore easy to reach by car. To drive on Swiss motorways you must have a so-called “cartoon”, available at CHF 40 at the customs offices, post offices, petrol stations, garages, offices of road traffic and the Basel Tourist Information Points.
