LA SONNAMBULA – SESTU – S.GEMILIANO CHURCHYARD – FRIDAY JULY 20 AT 9:30 PM

Today, Friday 20th July at 21.30, in Sestu, S.Gemiliano area, in the churchyard of S.Gemiliano takes place “La Sonnambula” part of “An Island of Music in 2012″ the Lyric Theatre of Cagliari, dedicated to classical symphonic-choral. Starring the late evening are the Opera House Orchestra and Chorus, conducted by Hirofumi Yoshida. The choir director is Marco Faelli.

The music program includes excerpts from La Sonnambula, opera in two acts with libretto by Felice Romani and music by Vincenzo Bellini (Catania, 1801 – Puteaux, 1835), and sees engaged in leading roles, Beatrice Murtas (Amina), Oscar Piras (Elvino), Antonello Pippia (Count Rodolfo) and, as a narrator, Simeon Latins.

The musical pieces selected are: The act by Viva! Viva Amina! (Chorus) In Elvezia there can be no pink (Alexis, Chorus); Care companions. As clear to me (Amina); Take: I give you the INSIDE (Elvino, Amina), you perceive, or pleasant places (Count Rodolfo), Hear. A dark sky, dark night (Chorus) Look. The door is open (Alexis, Chorus), from Act II Here the forest is more dense and shady (Chorus) Everything has melted (Elvino); Count, in my eyes (Elvino, Count Rodolfo), Ah! Not Believed mirarti. Ah! There comes uman thought (Amina, Elvino, all).

The sleepwalker is represented for the first time, with great success at the Teatro Carcano in Milan, March 6, 1831, and to interpret the roles of Amina and Elvino are Giuditta Pasta and Giambattista Rubini, the pair of ideal and most famous singers of the moment that Bellini praised as being “two angels are able to transport the audience into a state bordering on madness.” Idyllic opera, classical and intense with a fine musical, lyrical and tense to “pure singing” La Sonnambula is suspended between Arcadia and Romanticism, between melancholy and tender sentiments and passions, tragic and moving, in an atmosphere of nature and humanity innocent are fully mature composer’s artistic Catania.
