I grandi appuntamenti di “Rocce Rosse Jazz”, la parentesi affidata alla direzione artistica di Gavino Murgia, sassofonista tra i più conosciuti e apprezzati nel panorama internazionale e una delle più belle voci di basso della Sardegna, riprendono da Cagliari il 18 dicembre al Conservatorio Pierluigi da Palestrina con la grande tradizione della musica jazz nel progetto del jazzista nuorese “Mediterranean Art Ensemble” dedicato al leader carismatico dell’Art Ensemble of Chicago, Lester Bowie, e il 19 dicembre replica al Teatro Eliseo di Nuoro, in un mix perfetto tra sonorità che richiamano i riti primitivi delle foreste africane con quelle urbane della frenetica New York. Con Gavino una formazione stellare che vede alla batteria e alle percussioni il grande Famoudou Don Moye, al trombone Mauro Ottolini e al contrabbasso Aldo Vigorito.

Creato da Gavino Murgia nel quale ha radunato alcuni tra i suoi musicisti preferiti per omaggiare colui che è stato il leader carismatico dell’Art Ensemble of Chicago, Lester Bowie, il Mediterranean Art Ensemble propone un repertorio costituito da brani originali e dai brani  classici della leggendaria band di Chicago, apripista del jazz d’avanguardia che ha recuperato in chiave moderna la tradizione musicale afroamericana, sviluppatasi alla fine degli anni ’60 e della quale Famoudou Don Moye è stato per trentacinque anni il batterista.

Un progetto che rivisita in una chiave totalmente inedita i brani del trombettista, compositore e arrangiatore dell’AEOC che ha fatto dell’innovazione e dell’avanguardia il suo punto di forza ma con la grande tradizione della musica afro americana sempre presente ad ispirare meravigliose melodie e armonie nonché atmosfere oniriche, ormai quasi inutilizzate dalle proposte jazzistiche odierne.

The great events of “Red Rocks Jazz”, the parenthesis under the direction of artistic Gavino Murgia, saxophonist of the most known and appreciated in the international scene and one of the finest bass voices of Sardinia, Cagliari resume by December 18 at the Conservatory Pierluigi da Palestrina with the great tradition of jazz music in jazz nuorese project “Mediterranean Art Ensemble” dedicated to the charismatic leader of the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Lester Bowie, and December 19 at the Teatro Eliseo replica of Nuoro, a perfect mix of sounds that recall the primitive rituals of African forests and urban areas of bustling New York. Gavino With a star formation that sees the drums and percussion Famoudou the great Don Moye, on trombone and bass Mauro Ottolini Aldo Vigorito.

Created by Gavino Murgia which brought together some of his favorite musicians to pay homage to the man who was the charismatic leader of the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Lester Bowie, Mediterranean Art Ensemble presents a repertoire consists of original songs and classic songs from the legendary Chicago band, pioneer of avant-garde jazz who has recovered in a modern African-American musical tradition, which developed in the late 60’s and which Famoudou Don Moye has been for thirty years the drummer.

A project that revisits in a totally new key tracks on the trumpeter, composer and arranger dell’AEOC that has made innovation and avant his strong point but with the great tradition of Afro-American music always inspire wonderful melodies and harmonies and dreamlike, almost unused by the proposals jazz today.
