La differenza tra la verità e la menzogna non pesa più di una piuma

Il Barone è un personaggio realmente esistito, Karl Friedrich Hieronymus von Münchausen era il suo nome.

Ex ufficiale in pensione, raccontò allo scrittore Rudolf Erich Raspe delle sue avventure meravigliose vissute in mare, in terra, in cielo e ben più lontano. Con la narrazione dei suoi straordinari viaggi, il Barone desiderava, secondo Raspe, “ridestare e far arrossire di vergogna il buon senso in coloro che l’avevano perduto di vista vuoi per pregiudizio vuoi per abitudine”.

Le storie di Münchausen hanno dell’incredibile, testimoniano di reperti da custodire in bacheche che odorano di Wunderkammer, raccontano di mondi meravigliosi dove tutto è smisurato, ma possibile. Le sue sono imprese eroiche, grandiose, delle vere fanfaronate d’epoca, alle quali però si vuole credere con tutta l’innocenza di chi ancora spera nella veridicità dei sogni. Prestare fede a tali mirabilia significa: viaggiare al centro della terra e scoprire che le eruzioni vulcaniche non sono altro che dispute tra i Ciclopi e il Dio Vulcano, conoscere il popolo dell’isola di Formaggio abitato da esseri altissimi con tre gambe e un unico braccio, giungere alla vecchiaia non morire ma trasformarsi in fumo come fanno gli abitanti lunari, e perché no, perdersi per boschi marini popolati da alberi di aragoste, gamberi e ostriche di dimensioni imponenti. Certo tutto ciò, soprattutto per i signori adulti, rischia d’apparire improbabile, ma garantisco per il Barone: è la verità!

I miracoli del Barone di Münchausen desidera parlare a tutti, grandi e piccini. E nel ricordo di quei cespugli di chiocciole marine tra cui passeggiano cervi con alberi di ciliegio sulla fronte, vuole essere un inno alla fantasia e al coraggio, un antidoto contro la noia. Un dialogo diretto tra l’uomo e la dea Fortuna che ogni cosa può avverare.

The difference between truth and falsehood does not weigh more than a feather

(Known as Egyptian)

The Baron is a real character, Karl Friedrich Hieronymus von Munchausen was his name.

Ex retired officer, told the writer Rudolf Erich Raspe of his wonderful adventures lived in the sea, land, sky and much farther. With the story of his extraordinary journeys, Baron wanted, according Raspe, “and awaken to blush with shame common sense in those who had lost sight of you want to prejudice of habit.”

Munchausen stories are incredible, testify to findings to be kept in showcases that smell of Wunderkammer, tell of wonderful worlds where everything is huge, but possible. His are heroic, grand, true boasting period, to which, however, you want to believe with all the innocence of those who still hope in the truth of dreams. Give credence to such wonders means to travel to the center of the earth and discover that volcanic eruptions are nothing but disputes between the Cyclops and the God Vulcan, know the people of the island inhabited by beings of cheese high with three legs and one arm , attain old age not to die but turn into smoke as do the inhabitants of the moon, and why not get lost in the woods populated by trees marine lobster, shrimp and oysters of massive proportions. Of course all of this, especially for the gentlemen adults, risks appear unlikely, but I guarantee for the Baron: it is the truth!

The miracles of Baron Munchausen want to talk to everyone, young and old. And in the memory of those bushes marine snails including walking deer with cherry trees on the forehead, wants to be a hymn to the imagination and courage, an antidote to boredom. A direct dialogue between the man and the goddess Fortuna that anything can come true.
