HOW TO GET TO THE CENTER OF NEW YORK JFK AIRPORT
There are many ways to get to Manhattan from JFK Airport, which vary according to the costs and travel times.
The most expensive is the taxi, $ 52 that you must add $ 6.50 for a toll and tip ranging from 10% to 15%, in practice more than $ 60. It may be convenient if you are traveling by 4 people.
It takes about 45 minutes.
The most economical solutions are:
Train (Air Link) + Metro: the airport is the Air Link which cost $ 5 connects the Jamaica station (lines E and J) and Howard Beach (line A). (The cost of the metro ticket is $ 2.25). The total trip cost $ 7.25.
This is the solution that we used for the outward journey and one that I recommend.
The line A subway connects Howard Beach with Lower Manhattan.
And the line connecting Jamaica to Midtown Manhattan.
The line connects J Jamaica with Upper Manhattan.
Here is a guide on how to navigate the Metro NY.
Bus + Metro: outside the terminal 4 is the Q10 bus which arrives in Kew Gardens, the Q3, which stops in Jamaica and the B15, which stops in Bedford-Stuyvesant. From there then you have to take the subway.
There are also private buses that connect JFK to Grand Central Station in about half an hour (traffic permitting).
The cost is around € 15 per person.
