Musica e disegni si incrociano e si fondono nell’inedito incontro fra i Dorian Gray, gruppo “storico” della scena “indie” targata Sardegna, e Davide Toffolo, apprezzato autore di fumetti nonché cantante e chitarrista della band punk-rock Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti. Accade per quattro serate di questo ultimo scorcio di febbraio, in programma fra il “continente” e l’isola dei nuraghi: giovedi 20 a Torino (all’Hiroshima Mon Amour), venerdì 21 a Milano (Arci Bellezza), la settimana dopo a Sassari (giovedì 27 al Teatro Civico) e infine a Cagliari (venerdì 28 al Piccolo Auditorium).

Quattro serate “double face”: una parte vede infatti Davide Toffolo protagonista di un set acustico delle migliori canzoni dei Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti; una performance che mette in luce le doti di entertainer del disegnatore/musicista di Pordenone, e che prende in prestito titolo e suggestioni dalla sua recente “autobiografia a fumetti”, “Graphic novel is dead”, pubblicata il mese scorso da Rizzoli Lizard.

“Sound And Vision” è invece lo spettacolo che nell’altra parte della serata lo trova in scena impegnato a disegnare dal vivo accanto ai Dorian Gray; un progetto che la band guidata dal cantante Davide Catinari porta avanti dall’anno scorso con un disegnatore di volta in volta diverso: dopo aver debuttato a Roma con Ausonia, nome d’arte dell’illustratore e fumettista fiorentino Francesco Ciampi, è stato infatti riproposto a Mezzago e La Spezia con il veronese Paolo Bacilieri, poi a Cagliari, in ottobre, con il siciliano Andrea Bruno al Karel Music Expo, e ancora con Bacilieri a Lucca nel prestigioso contesto del Lucca Comics & Games, il festival internazionale del fumetto, del cinema d’animazione, dell’illustrazione e del gioco.

Ideato dalla Vox Day Concerti di Cagliari in collaborazione con Coconino Press, la casa editrice bolognese del Gruppo Fandango specializzata in graphic novel, “Sound and Vision” si presenta come un atto unico giocato su due livelli narrativi, dove il segno grafico incontra e interagisce con i suoni in un work in progress che prende forma in un crescendo emozionale: un viaggio nell’universo sonoro dei Dorian Gray, con nuovi brani strumentali e altri presi dagli ultimi due dischi del gruppo cagliaritano (“Forse il sole ci odia” e “La pelle degli spiriti”) che stavolta sarà Davide Toffolo a illustrare e interpretare attraverso i suoi disegni, realizzati dal vivo e proiettati su uno schermo di pari passo con la musica di Davide Catinari (voce, chitarra acustica, percussioni), Samuele Dessì (chitarre, loops, voci), Nico Meloni (chitarre) e Jacopo Vannini (tastiere, theremin, percussioni, bass pedal e voci).Music and designs will meet and merge nell’inedita meeting between Dorian Gray , “historical” group stage “indie” license plate Sardinia , and Davide Toffolo , liked comic book writer and singer and guitarist of the punk-rock band Dropkick Murphys .
