BODY ARCHAIC – Introduction to Research project for a dance through the Sardinian. Butoh

By Alessandro Pintus – Not Company (Rome)

Through Butoh the body rediscovers its nature, is revealed with all its ingenuous and absurd authenticity. A personal research encompassing, involving the history, experiences, memories of the individual. A journey back to the origin of self, man, the universe.

This project is the result of experience gained in more than 15 years of research in Butoh dance. More than just look away and remained fascinated by the exoticism of other cultures, so will contextualize the philosophy of Butoh in the Italian context, identifying a real body, through the rediscovery of our roots.

More than the opportunity to teach a new technique or model to “wear”, this project aims to research in progressive evolution, in order to provide the necessary tools to develop themselves and their abilities.

The work you submit is therefore deeply motivated by ‘interest in the archaic world of culture, land and the people of Sardinia.

The project is open to all those who possess the foundation of a secret body, looking surprised. The work is particularly suitable for those young artists (dancers, actors, etc.), resident in Sardinia, which have in common a strong desire to rediscover, through dance, their bodies and their culture, from the most ancestral memories the history of the Sardinian people.

With this project we want to finally give renewed life and breath to their social context, through an art that lives and works in the present, considering their own culture an asset to be safeguarded, as it represents a legitimate contribution to world heritage .

Alessandro Pintus is a dancer and choreographer, performs its activities mainly in Italy and abroad, he became interested in Butoh dance in 1996, as the evolution of a moving theater research that led him to travel several times to Japan for further study on working with Japanese teachers more representative.
