AD MIRABILIA – EXMA’ -CAGLIARI – 13 TO 28 OCTOBER

Saturday, October 13 at 19.00 in the Hall of the Tower Municipal Center for Art and Culture Exmà of Cagliari, will be inaugurated by Roberta Vanali Ad Mirabilia, staff artist Silvia Mei.

The event is organized in collaboration with the Consortium Camu and sponsored by the City of Cagliari.

THE EXHIBITION

25 works of large and small format: This is the last production made by the artist Silvia Mei, who starred in a language that draws the Art Brut, to Primitivism and the children’s drawings to exorcise fears and nightmares repressed.

Silvia’s Mei is a spontaneous art, ruthless, the result of immediate emotional impulse but aware. While childhood innocence has performed almost perversely, the other shows a background dominated dall’istintività which breaks the contact with reality to create unsettling creatures, animal hybrids that come from the depths of the unconscious. Physical decay, the animal suppressed and the controversial status of women are the strong points of his quest to exorcise fears and nightmares and recall repressed memories of childhood through the ambiguity of a psychotic world, where formal deconstruction, hybrid transformations and twists unnatural leave room for different levels of interpretation.

From Fautier to Baselitz, Matisse and Martin Maloney to graffiti rock, these references that Silvia Mei draws and reinvented with absolute aesthetic freedom to build without the body faces that represent the different reality of belonging and the multiple aspects of a single character. Its intention is to represent conflicting family relationships as marriages Side of violent men brought to the altar and unwanted children. Bright colors and brush strokes deliberately uncertain alternate to achieve a more pleasant and thick. Anthropomorphic creatures of humanity adrift, alienated now, moving backgrounds wild or completely neutral, returning expressiveness ambivalent. Enigmatic figures drawn from elementary, yet steeped in sin grotesque attempt to remedy their mistakes, maybe repeating. (Adapted from text by Roberta Vanali)
