STICK MEN TOUR 2012 – QUARTU S.ELENA and NUORO – FBI and ELISEO THEATRE- 20 TO 21 NOVEMBER

Continues the sixth edition of the festival “Music that revolves around”, organized by the Cultural Way of the College, with the “DEEP Europe 2012 Tour” of the Stick Men that will stop Nov. 20 FBI Club of St. Helens (Via Sassari Brigade, 68, 22.00) and 21 at the Teatro Eliseo in Nuoro (via Roma, 21.00) during the Festival Anima Nera.

THE BAND

The Stick Men are a progressive rock band formed in 2008 and consists of a trio of musicians from the award-winning and long career, Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto, two members of the legendary band “King Crimson”, and Markus Reuter, composer, guitarist and producer. The band’s name comes from the stick, the stringed musical instrument played by Tony Levin that allows you to use both hands independently to achieve a sound consisting of guitar and bass: with the right hand you play 5 string melody and the left the 5-string bass.

Known for its innovative approach to low, Levin was among the pioneers of the use of the electric bass and Chapman Stick and Stick Bass is dedicated just to his new project, in which he set the current drummer of King Crimson, Pat Mastelotto and Markus Reuter Master: Two Stick and a battery for a concert kaleidoscopic between odd time signatures groove and irresistible …

Tony Levin is an American bassist and stickista.

He has played with artists such as James Taylor, Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, Yes (Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe), Andy Summers, Liquid Tension Experiment, Pink Floyd, John Lennon, Dire Straits, Claudio Baglioni, Joan Armatrading, Alice Cooper, Seal, David Bowie, Carly Simon, Ivano Fossati, California Guitar Trio, Sarah McLachlan, Kevin Max, Paul Simon, Michael Schenker Group and many others, also some Italian children. Known for its innovative approach to low, Levin was among the pioneers of the use of the electric bass and Chapman Stick as well as the creator of a technique for playing bass with chopsticks known as funk fingers [1].

Levin is a bass player with an excellent reputation, known for the way it combines great musicianship with a great sense of groove, a good dose of humor and a relentless passion. The general public knows the bottom of the catchy song Sledgehammer Peter Gabriel Levin’s name is also associated with King Crimson.

In addition to working on albums by other artists, Levin has produced some solo albums (Waters of Eden, Pieces of the Sun, Resonator), and a live behalf Double Espresso.

Pat Mastelotto

Founding member of Mr. Mister has worked with Cock Robin, Scandal, Al Jarreau, Pointer Sisters, Patti LaBelle, Kenny Loggins, XTC, Hall & Oates, The Rembrandts, Björk.

In 1993 he proposed to Robert Fripp on his tour with David Sylvian. After this Fripp asked him to enter the new King Crimson. The technical challenges that the group suggests they did significantly increase its capacity so as to consider it a virtuous battery life, thanks to the collaboration, which lasted two years, with Bill Bruford.

In parallel with King Crimson continued activity session man (Tina Arena, Hector Zazou), but focused mainly on experimental projects (Chew, ProjeKct X, BPM & M, TU, KTU) often appeared with Trey Gunn. He also released an album of only percussion with Terry Bozzio.

Markus Reuter is a composer, guitarist and producer. He began his career as a pianist and then experiment with other instruments such as Robert Fripp Guitar Craft, the Stick, and finally the U8 touch guitar. Reuter has worked with many musicians, has had several recordings and is now part of the band Centrozoon, the duo Tuner (with Pat Mastelotto) and Europe String Choir. Markus Reuter playing the instrument to 8 strings of his own design, the Touch style guitar, which combines in a single instrument, the guitar and bass.
