Un ritratto del presidente che ha abolito la schiavitù in America e cambiato il corso della storia

Steven Spielberg dirige un biopic sul sedicesimo presidente degli Stati Uniti d’America, Abraham Lincoln. Basato sul best seller Team of Rivals, scritto dal drammaturgo Tony Kushner, il film è incentrato sullo scontro politico tra Lincoln e i potenti uomini del suo gabinetto per l’abolizione dalla schiavitù degli afroamericani alla fine della Guerra civile. In un paese diviso dal conflitto e dai grandi venti del cambiamento, Lincoln persegue una linea d’azione volta a far finire la guerra, unire la nazione e abolire la schiavitù. Grazie alla sua moralità e alla feroce determinazione che scaturisce dal desiderio di ottenere il successo, le scelte del presidente muteranno il destino delle generazioni a venire.
È Daniel Day-Lewis – attorniato da un cast di stelle – a interpretare la parte del presidente che ha cambiato per sempre il corso della storia, in un film in odore di Oscar.

Questo grande film, perchè di grande film si tratta, vuole parlare ad un pubblico estremamente colto ed informato sui fatti, non credo venga premiato dal boxoffice e potrebbe pure essere maltrattato dalla critica.
Ciò a noi poco importa, è una meraviglia, una cupa, pesantissima, complessa, difficile, meraviglia. In alcuni momenti sembra di assistere “alla storia” in tempo reale, quasi di farne parte.
Attori straordinari.
Se vi può interessare un film su Abrham Lincon e i suoi ultimi quattro, cinque anni di vita con gli storici eventi ad esso collegati, questa pellicola fa per voi.

Dopo essersi imbattuto in un gruppo di ebrei che si è nascosto nelle fogne della città, Socha accetta di proteggerli per denaro. Quello che inizia come un mero accordo economico,          prende però una piega inaspettata. Socha è un brav’uomo di famiglia, ma anche un piccolo truffatore, forse solo un uomo comune che vive tempi terribili. Nel corso della narrazione, cresce come essere umano, attraverso un percorso interiore e fisico emozionante. La Storia lo spinge a scelte decisive e ad azioni straordinarie, che mettono a rischio la sua vita quella della sua famiglia, fino alla salvezza di alcuni uomini, donne, bambini dopo quattordici mesi vissuti in un continuo stato di allerta nel sottosuolo.
Dal 24 gennaio 2013 la visione di “in Darkness” è proposta alle scuole di tutta Italia, perché i giovani, attraverso le emozioni e le riflessioni che il cinema è in grado di suscitare, non dimentichino gli orrori della Shoah.

Steven Spielberg directs a biopic about the sixteenth president of the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln. Based on the best-selling book Team of Rivals, written by playwright Tony Kushner, the film centers on the political clashes between Lincoln and the powerful men of his cabinet for the abolition of slavery of African Americans at the end of the Civil War. In a country divided by conflict and by the great winds of change, Lincoln pursues a course of action to end the war, unite the nation and abolish slavery. Thanks to its morality and fierce determination that comes from the desire to achieve success, the choices of the president will change the fate of generations to come.
It’s Daniel Day-Lewis – surrounded by a cast of stars – to play the part of the president who forever changed the course of history, in a movie smell Oscar.

This great movie, because it is a great film, wants to talk to an audience highly educated and informed on the facts, I do not think will be rewarded by the box office and may also be abused by critics.
This does not matter to us, it is a wonder, a dark, heavy, complex, difficult, wonderful. In some moments seems to watch “history” in real time, as part of it.
Amazing actors.
If you hear about a movie about Abrham Lincoln and his last four or five years of life with the historic events connected to it, this film is for you.

In the course of the narrative, it grows as a human being, through an inner emotional and physical. History pushes him to make decisive choices and extraordinary actions, threatening his life that of his family, to the salvation of men, women and children after fourteen months of living in a constant state of alert in the subsoil.
From 24 January 2013, the vision of “In Darkness” is offered to schools across Italy, for young people, through the emotions and thoughts that cinema is able to inspire, not to forget the horrors of the Holocaust.
